Marcus Sammuelson Hosts Harlem Eat-up! Luminary Awards to Honor Bevy Smith and Dapper Dan
It’s been a lit week of Harlem Eat-up festivities!
Thursday’s festivities spun Uptown into a modern rendition of the iconic Harlem Renaissance. Featuring local icons, aristocrats, and a slew of familiar faces, the evening was a welcoming opener to the festival’s annual programming.
Hosted by Harlem EatUp! co-founder and Red Rooster Executive Chef Marcus Samuelsson, the evening reunited former Red Rooster Chef de Cuisine and Top Chef season 15 finalist, Harlemite Chef Adrienne Cheatham, while welcoming restaurateur and Food Network personality, Chef Geoffrey Zakarian.
Now in it’s fourth year, this year’s Luminary Awards celebrated two legends: pioneering fashion designer, Dapper Dan, whose Harlem atelier with Gucci recently opened, and entrepreneur and media personality, Bevy Smith.
This was a truly iconic way for Harlem to recognize its culinary, art and cultural leaders- by celebrating them as luminaries!
