In true Deadpool-fashion, things didn’t quite go according to plan…
There was a red carpet with fake cutouts of photographers (because of course, he forgot to invite media) and a photo booth with fake cut outs of the cast including Cable, Domino and a special appearance by Espolòn’s very own Ramón, because OOPS! He gave them the wrong date. Directional signs were posted on caution cones telling guests where to go, all of the movie posters lining the walls were tagged with Deadpool’s face and a bottle of Espolòn (much like his rip-off ads) and a memorabilia collection that included a unicorn horn, a half empty bottle of Espolòn and a ring pop. Thanks to Espolòn and Alamo Drafthouse, guests were at least able to enjoy Espolòn cocktails and items from Alamo’s special Deadpool inspired menu. They also brought along Espolòn’s Black Market where guests could “gamble” and haggle for Espolòn and Deadpool co-branded swag.
Once inside the theater, there were buckets of popcorn and candy labeled “carbs with butter” and “candy no butter” and staff in t-shirts that read “Carb Technician.” There was also a water cooler that contained Espolòn tequila that was run by the “Bartender (struggling actor).” As guests took their seats, a representative from Espolòn introduced the film and told guests to look under their seats for a surprise. We had our own little Oprah moment with “you get a flask and you get a flask, everybody gets a flask!”
As the film started rolling, guests quickly realized it was the wrong Deadpool movie! The screen went black and a message popped up from Deadpool- “Sh$t!!!…wrong Deadpool movie…here we go!” Finally Deadpool 2 started and guests enjoyed watching the film, as they continued to order Espolòn cocktails!
