South by Southwest (SXSW) returns to Austin from March 12th–18th, 2026, unveiling a powerhouse content programme spotlighting the convergence of tech, film, music, and the creator economy. With over 850 conference sessions and thousands of speakers, the Festival is set to feature trailblazers like Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David, former USPTO Director Michelle K. Lee, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, actress Rhea Seehorn, and culinary icon José Andrés.
Organized into curated tracks including 2050, Advertising & Brand Experience, Artificial Intelligence, Creator Economy, and Health & MedTech, the agenda is designed to unpack the forces shaping the future of global industries. Highlights include a deep dive into decoding animal language with AI, lessons in storytelling from television’s heavy hitters, and the SXSW Pitch competition featuring startups reinventing everything from multisensory technology to decentralized energy grids.
To further amplify global participation, SXSW continues to expand its community initiatives, including the SXSW EDU programs (March 9–12) that champion Equity & Belonging through sessions like “Demanding Diversity When Diversity is Illegal.” The festival also adapts to Austin’s changing landscape; as the Convention Center undergoes redevelopment, SXSW 2026 will transform downtown into a series of “mini, badge-specific neighborhoods,” creating immersive worlds for different creative communities.
Award categories are evolving too. The SXSW Film & TV Awards continue to expand their reach, with winners in the Narrative, Documentary, and Animated Short categories remaining eligible for Academy Award® qualification. This year also sees a heightened focus on the Creator Economy track, reflecting the massive shift toward user-generated content and digital fashion within the entertainment and media landscape.
As the SXSW programming team notes, this year’s “All Together Now” theme will allow attendees to “step inside an immersive world” defined by the cultural and technological shifts of the mid-2020s.
